Outstanding 2004 Miller Syrah Wine Available at Garrett’s Emporium

Looking for interesting Syrah wines from California? At Garrett’s Emporium we offer a small collection of our recommended wines from boutique wineries of the California Central Coast.
The Syrah grape, also known as Sirah or Shiraz, is grown all around the world. The Syrah wine is often powerfully flavored and full-bodied, and is used as a varietal and also blended. The intensity varies, depending on the soil and climate where it is grown. Due to the high tannin content and concentrated flavors, a high quality Syrah will improve with some aging.
The Syrah grape was introduced in California in the early 1900’s and planting accelerated in the 1970’s for use in the Rhone-style blends. In the past fifteen years Syrah plantings have increased significantly, with the most acreage in San Luis Obispo County.
Garrett’s Emporium is located in the heart of the California Central Coast Wine Country, with access to wines from San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.
From the unique collection of boutique wines at Garrett’s Emporium, we recommend the 2004 Sage Canyon Syrah from Miller Wine Works of Napa Valley. This excellent Syrah opens with a touch of caramel spice and violet on the nose, with hints of earth and minerality.  This is confirmed on the palate, with the addition of ripe black raspberries and sour cherries in combination, all laced with threads of tar and anise in a whirl of mouthfilling excitement.  A touch of oak and exceptionally integrated tannins carry this wine to a graceful finish. This high class Syrah should evolve beautifully for 10-12 years.
